Catalogue for the exhibition Yayoi Kusama: Portraying the Figurative. The observational and figurative depiction skills she developed in her early years may be said to have shaped Kusama's artistic journey. This catalogue explores her figurative works, from her early sketches of plants and animals to the collages she focused on in the 1970s-90s, and the prints she began creating in 1979. Also features series of paintings from the 2000s onwards, showcasing freely drawn self-portraits and whimsical figures, as well as a large-scale pumpkin sculpture, spanning works from her teenage years to the present.
